What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an innovative invisible brace system, which uses removable aligners to straighten the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, the aligners are not fixed to the teeth; they sit over the top of the teeth. Invisalign aligners create forces, which cause the teeth to move; the treatment uses a series of aligners, rather than a single appliance, to straighten the teeth and each aligner is slightly different to allow room for tooth movement.
Invisalign is designed to provide patients with a discreet alternative to traditional braces. In the past, many people were put off having treatment because they didn’t want to be seen wearing a brace, but this is no longer a concern and you can now feel confident when you have treatment.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign treatment is planned in advance using state of the art software, which converts images of your mouth into a treatment plan; your aligners are custom-made and they are designed to be worn in a set order, with each one in place for 2 weeks. The aligners are all different.
Invisalign is a removable brace system, but it is important that you wear your braces for at least 21 hours every day; if you don’t there is a risk that the treatment will not work properly.
