Bridge the Gap Towards a New Smile

Tuesday, November 8th, 2016

If you have missing teeth, replacing them can bring all kinds of benefits. A dental bridge can offer a solution to patients with a single missing tooth or a number of gaps in the smile. If you’ve lost a tooth, why not call and find out more now?

About dental bridges

Dental bridges are an effective solution for missing teeth. They aim to bridge the gap between remaining teeth when natural teeth have been lost as a result of decay, gum disease or accidental injury. There are various types of dental bridge, but the most commonly used device is a traditional fixed bridge. This restoration consists of a pontic, a false tooth, which is fused to a crown on either side.

Dental bridges can be made from an array of different materials. Porcelain is a popular choice, as it matches the natural tooth colour.

How is a bridge fitted?

We can usually fit a bridge over the course of two appointments. During the first session, we’ll create a mould, which will be used to create your bespoke bridge. We send the mould away, and highly-skilled dental technicians create your bridge. When the bridge is ready, we can then place it. Once it’s in the right position, we will secure it firmly.

How long should a bridge last?

Bridges can last up to fifteen years if they are looked after properly. Once your bridge has been fitted, you should care for it as you do your natural teeth. When you have a check-up, we will have a good look at the bridge to make sure everything is as it should be.

Is a bridge the best option for me?

Dental bridges are not the only tooth replacement treatment we offer; we also provide custom-made dentures and dental implants. If you have missing teeth, we will go through all the treatment options with you and discuss the pros and cons of each. You can ask as many questions as you like, and hopefully, we’ll be able to help you decide which treatment is best for you.

We offer a host of options for patients looking to replace missing teeth. Whether you have lost a single tooth through injury or decay or you have a full set of missing teeth, we can help to restore your smile and enable you to eat and speak without any difficulty or hassle.

Our treatments

We have treatments available to replace single missing teeth, as well as full arches of teeth. Our options cater for all budgets and treatment preferences and we will go through all the different treatments with you during the consultation to help you make a decision.

Dentures

Dentures have been around for many years and they remain a very popular choice for patients who have a large number of missing teeth. We provide full and partial dentures, and we use the finest quality materials to produce prostheses that are functional and life-like. Dentures restore the aesthetic of the smile and enable you to carry out important functions, such as chewing and grinding down food and speaking.

We also offer implant-retained dentures, which are dentures that are supported by dental implants. These dentures are secured firmly and they enable you to enjoy improved functionality, as well as peace of mind, as your denture will never slip or slide out of position.

Dental implants

Dental implants are a viable option for patients with one or several missing teeth, as they can be connected to bridges, crowns and dentures. Implants are designed to replace the root of the missing tooth and they are the closest substitute for a natural tooth; they last a lifetime and they also provide amazing aesthetics. The treatment process does take some time, but the results of treatment are very impressive and once the new restoration is in place, you can relax and enjoy your new smile.

Dental bridges

Dental bridges are an affordable solution for single missing teeth. The most common type of bridge, the traditional fixed bridge, comprises of a false tooth, which is secured by a crown on either side. Bridges can be made from various different materials, including ceramics such as porcelain for a natural aesthetic and they should last for up to 15 years. The treatment process is relatively simple and there is minimal discomfort involved.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a restorative treatment  used to replace a missing tooth. There are different types of bridge, but most commonly, a bridge is made from an artificial tooth with a new crown on either side. The bridge is fused to the neighbouring teeth and we recommend ceramics to provide a truly natural look.

Bridge treatment usually involves two sessions over two to three weeks. In the first session you will plan your treatment ready to be placed in the second session. Your bridge will be custom-made just for you and can be made from ceramics so your new tooth looks as natural as the rest of them!

How long will a dental bridge last?

As long as you look after your bridge, it should last for up to 15 years.

Bridge-tastic benefits

Even a single missing tooth can have a massive impact on the way your smile looks, not to mention your oral health, and this can lead to low self-esteem. Bridges are a simple, affordable way to replace missing teeth and you’ll have a restored smile in just two weeks.

Once a bridge is in place, it will act like a natural tooth and should last for more than a decade. Bridges are designed to look just like natural teeth and blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile. A bridge will not only restore your smile, but your confidence too.

Treat Yourself to a Sensational Smile Makeover!

Monday, May 2nd, 2016

With modern advancements in cosmetic dentistry, anybody anywhere can now get that Hollywood smile with modern, affordable treatments. A smile makeover covers a broad range of treatments that can transform any set of teeth (whether discoloured, crooked, misaligned, or even missing) into a perfect set of pearly whites. Some of the methods available at Liverpool Dental Spa are:

Cosmetic bonding

This process uses composite resin that bonds with the natural teeth to create an authentic looking addition to teeth. This can be used to fill any gaps or improve the aesthetics of unsightly teeth.

Crowns

Crowns, often made from porcelain, are small ‘caps’ that are crafted to fit onto an existing tooth, modifying the appearance of the tooth. Crowns are attached to implants and are designed to look very natural, so nobody need know!

Bridges

If a tooth is missing and there is nothing for a crown to attach onto, then bridges can be used to fill the gap. Bridges attach to implants adjacent to the gap, completing the row of teeth.

Veneers

Similar to crowns, porcelain veneers can be used to mask imperfect teeth. Instead of attaching to implants, veneers are moulded to the surface of the natural tooth making them an aesthetically pleasing option. Veneers have been known to last for many years.

Tooth whitening

Tooth whitening is simply the bleaching of the visible tooth to give the illusion of natural whiteness. Laser whitening can make the teeth up to six shades lighter, so teeth stained from smoking, tea or coffee can be restored to their natural beauty.

Dentures

Modern dentures can be crafted to suit a patient’s jaw structure, offering a natural appearance as well as practicality. Dentures can be held on by suction or attached to implants for those who want a more permanent solution to missing teeth.

Learn All About Dental Bridges

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

If you have a missing tooth, there’s no need to panic. We offer a range of tooth replacement treatments including dental bridges.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a form of restoration used to restore the smile. There are different types of bridge available, including a traditional fixed bridge, a cantilever bridge and a Maryland bridge. Traditional fixed bridges are the most commonly used type of bridge and they consist of a false tooth anchored in place by two crowns. The type of bridge you choose will often depend on the location of the missing tooth and your general oral health. If you have healthy teeth on one side of the gap, rather than both sides, a cantilever bridge may be recommended, while a Maryland bridge may be the best option for a missing front tooth.

There are various materials that can be used to make a dental bridge, including porcelain, gold and metal alloys. Metal bridges tend to be strong and hard-wearing, but they are highly visible and many people prefer to have ceramic bridges, as they are more aesthetically pleasing.

Why would I need a dental bridge?

You may wish to consider having a dental bridge if you have a missing tooth or a tooth that is severely decayed and requires extraction.

Dental bridges strengthen the teeth and enable you to eat and speak without any problems, as well as making the smile look healthier and more visually appealing.

The procedure

Dental bridge treatment usually involves two sessions, which tend to be two weeks apart. During the first appointment, the mould for the bridge will be created and during the second appointment, the bridge will be fixed into position.

How long do dental bridges last?

Dental bridges are not built to last a lifetime, but they should last for several years. It is important to care for your bridge in order to get the most out of it. Your dentist will explain how to maintain your dental bridge.

Bridge the Gap and Replace Your Missing Tooth

Monday, February 22nd, 2016

At Liverpool Dental Spa we understand that losing a tooth can be very distressing, not just because it makes your smile look less attractive, but also because it makes day to day functions, such as talking and eating, more difficult. Thankfully, we have a range of options available to restore your smile and increase your confidence. One option we offer is a dental bridge.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a form of restoration used to replace a missing tooth. We always recommend replacing missing teeth because gaps in the mouth increase the risk of oral disease and often, they cause the neighbouring teeth to start to move out of position. A dental bridge is made of a false tooth, which is called a pontic, fused to two crowns. The bridge is anchored by the neighbouring teeth and once in place, the false tooth looks exactly like a natural tooth.

Types of dental bridge

There are different types of dental bridge available. Most commonly, the bridge you choose will depend on the location of the gap. The most frequently used bridge is a traditional fixed bridge, however if you have a gap at the front of your mouth, you may be advised to consider a Maryland or resin-bonded bridge. If you have healthy teeth on one side of the gap only, a cantilever bridge may be recommended. In this case, the bridge is attached to two crowns on one side of the gap.

Dental bridges can be made from a variety of materials, including precious and non-precious metals and ceramics, or a combination of both. Ceramic fused to metal bridges are popular because they are strong and hard-wearing, but they blend in with the natural teeth for a realistic aesthetic.

Advantages of dental bridges

Dental bridges are more affordable than dental implants and are designed to last a long time. They are also aesthetically pleasing and restore function to your mouth so you can enjoy good oral health and eat and speak without experiencing any difficulties.

Marvellous Missing Teeth Treatments

Tuesday, January 26th, 2016

Injuries, accidents, ageing and oral disease can all contribute to an elevated risk of tooth loss. If you’ve lost a tooth or have a number of missing teeth, we have an extensive range of options to replace your teeth and restore your beautiful smile.

Our tooth replacement treatments include dentures, dental implants and dental bridges.

Dentures

Dentures are the longest-serving tooth replacement treatment. These sets of prosthetic teeth, which are made from acrylic and plastic, are a popular choice for replacing full sets of teeth, but can also be used as a substitute for a small number of teeth. In this case, a partial denture is used.Dentures are custom-made and can usually be fitted two weeks after the consultation. Dentures do last a long time, but may have to be adjusted or replaced as the shape of the mouth changes constantly and this means that the fit of the denture may need to be modified.

Dental implants

Dental implants offer patients with single or multiple missing teeth a long-term, highly effective solution. Implants are small titanium posts secured into openings in the jaw bone. They are able to integrate into the bone tissue to replace the tooth root and anchor the new restoration with incredible levels of stability. Implants are compatible with bridges, dentures and single crowns and are built to last a lifetime. They are more expensive than other treatments, but last a lot longer.

Dental bridges

Dental bridges are a popular solution for a single missing tooth. They are more affordable than dental implants and treatment usually only takes two sessions. Bridges are custom-made for the individual using precious metals or ceramics and made up of a false tooth anchored by a new crown on each side. Once a bridge is in place, it should last for around 10-15 years. For a natural look, we recommend porcelain bridges, as they match the colour of the natural teeth perfectly and therefore you can’t tell the difference between the false tooth and the rest of the teeth.

Crowning the Success of Our Restorative Dental Treatments

Friday, July 24th, 2015

Even the healthiest teeth can fall foul to injuries and accidents, but at Liverpool Dental Spa we have a host of restorative options to patch up chips and worn edges, repair fractures and ensure you can smile with confidence again. Our dentists are highly skilled in restorative dentistry and we use only the finest quality materials and the latest techniques to produce amazing results with minimal pain.

Our restorative treatments

We offer a range of restorative treatments to repair damaged and decayed teeth, patch up injuries and replace lost teeth. Our treatment options include:

  • CEREC same-day restorative treatment: we are fortunate to have CEREC technology on-site. This gives us the ability to offer same-day bespoke restorative treatment. With CEREC we can design, manufacture and place new veneers, crowns, inlays and onlays all in one day without having to send impressions away or fit temporary measures. CEREC vastly reduces treatment time and it also makes treatment more convenient for patients with hectic schedules. The process is also cleaner and more accurate than traditional methods.
  • Porcelain crowns: as well as same-day CEREC crowns, we also offer hand-crafted porcelain crowns, which sit on top of the teeth to offer protection and make the tooth more robust. Crowns are recommended when a tooth is broken or decayed and they can also be attached to dental implants as part of a tooth replacement. Porcelain crowns match the shade of healthy natural teeth and last for up to five years.
  • White fillings: fillings are placed when a cavity forms in the surface of the tooth. Cavities are holes often caused by acid erosion of the enamel. Fillings help to stem the spread of infection and white fillings restore the teeth without affecting the way it looks.
  • Dental bridges: bridges are a popular tooth replacement treatment for single gaps. They consist of a false tooth fused to a new crown on either side. Bridges can be made from metals or ceramics and they last up to 15 years. Bridge treatment usually involves two sessions.
  • Dentures: dentures are an effective means of replacing multiple missing teeth. They are sets of false teeth that look like natural teeth and enable you to speak and eat with ease and confidence. Dentures are custom-made and are secured by the natural suction of the gums.
  • Dental implants: implants offer a versatile solution to patients with tooth loss, as they can be used to replace single and multiple missing teeth. Implants are small devices made from titanium and are placed inside small holes in the jaw bone and then attached to a crown, bridge or denture once settled. Implants offer the same standard of stability and functionality as natural tooth roots and are an excellent long-term option.

What is Restorative Dentistry

Tuesday, June 16th, 2015

We are proud to offer a range of restorative dental treatments to carry out running repairs to the teeth, offer protection and enable you to enjoy improved oral function. Restorative dentistry is concerned with the restoration of weak, damaged and decayed teeth and the diagnosis and management of dental diseases and infections affecting the teeth and the bony structures that support them.

Restorative dental treatment at Liverpool Dental Spa

We have an extensive collection of restorative treatments on offer that bring about incredible results for patients with chipped, broken and missing teeth. Whether you’ve been injured in an accident, your tooth has been weakened by gum disease or you have lost a tooth, we’re confident  we can find the most effective solutions.

Our restorative treatment options include:

  • Crowns: porcelain crowns, also known as caps, are used to protect damaged teeth. They sit on top of the existing tooth structure to improve the functionality of the tooth. Porcelain crowns are durable (lasting up to 5 years) and they also create stunning, subtle aesthetics. We are able to offer traditional hand-crafted crowns or CEREC 1-day treatment, which eliminates the need for multiple appointments and temporary restorations.
  • Bridges: dental bridges are a popular solution for missing teeth. They are designed to bridge the gap between two teeth when a tooth is lost and consist of a false tooth with a crown on either side. Bridges are often made from ceramics, which provide a natural finish and they are an affordable and durable option, lasting around 10-15 years.
  • Dentures: dentures are a reliable and effective solution for missing teeth and we offer modern complete and partial dentures, which improve and restore oral function and create healthy looking, attractive smiles. Every denture is made from high quality materials and are custom-made for a perfect fit.
  • Dental implants: implants are an increasingly popular choice for patients who have lost teeth. They are suitable for all ages and can be used to replace any number of missing teeth, from a single tooth to a full arch. Implants are made from titanium and sit in the jaw bone to replace the missing root. Once they have integrated into the bone, the head of the implant is joined to a crown, bridge or denture and the restoration process is complete.
  • White fillings: white fillings are an aesthetically pleasing alternative to metal fillings and they enable us to restore decayed teeth with minimal impact on the look of the tooth. White fillings are made from dental composite and treatment can usually be completed within an hour.
