Clear Braces V Fixed Braces For Patients In The Heart Of Liverpool

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013

Nowadays, patients have a wide range of options when it comes to orthodontic treatments, including removable, clear and fixed braces. If you aren’t an expert in orthodontics, you may struggle to work out which option is best, how the different treatments work and which one you should choose.

About clear braces

We offer Invisalign, one of the world’s leading clear brace systems. Invisalign is completely different to traditional fixed braces because it employs a series of bespoke, removable aligners to straighten the teeth. The aligners are manufactured according to a personalised treatment plan and each one is slightly different; over the course of time, the teeth move into the correct position and by the time the final aligner is removed, the teeth should be perfectly straight. Each aligner is worn for two weeks and then replaced until treatment is complete.

About fixed braces

Fixed braces are generally recommended for patients who have moderate or complex orthodontic needs because they provide a great deal of support for the teeth and can produce a lot of movement. Traditional fixed braces are not the most aesthetically pleasing treatment, but the results are very effective and the treatment process is straightforward.

Which is better for me: clear braces or fixed braces?

During your consultation we will be able to advise you based on your individual needs and preferences. Clear braces are an excellent option for patients who are looking for a discreet treatment and those who would prefer a removable brace, but it is worth noting that the success of treatment is dependent on you remembering to wear your aligners. Fixed braces are easier as you do no have to do anything once they are in place; however, obviously they are visible when you smile and this makes them less appealing to many patients. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of each treatment system and make recommendations based on your orthodontic prescription at Liverpool Dental Spa.

Straighten Teeth Discreetly With Clear Braces For Patients In Liverpool

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013

If you’ve ever thought of having orthodontic treatment but couldn’t bear the thought of wearing highly visible metal braces, Liverpool Dental Spa may just have the perfect solution. Invisalign is a discreet braces treatment, which enables you to achieve a straighter smile without anyone knowing that you are wearing braces.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear brace system, which uses a series of aligners made from clear plastic to gently move the teeth. The aligners are manufactured based on the individual patient’s orthodontic prescription and treatment plan and each aligner is slightly different to allow room for tooth movement. Invisalign uses the latest computer imaging to plan the treatment so that patients can see their anticipated result before they even start treatment.

The Invisalign aligners are made from thin, light plastic and they are almost invisible to others, so you can smile with confidence throughout the entirety of the treatment process. Each aligner is worn for 14 days and then swapped with the next in the series; the aligners are removable but for optimum results it is important to wear them for at least 21 hours per day.

Why should I consider Invisalign?

You should consider Invisalign if you want a beautiful, straight and natural looking smile without the aggravation of wearing visible braces. Many of our clients want the end result without having to put up with wearing braces and Invisalign enables them to enjoy the results without any hassle or worries about how they will look when they have treatment.

Invisalign is also advantageous because it allows patients to have a degree of freedom; the aligners are removable, which not only gives you flexibility, but also the ability to eat and drink without any worries. Invisalign is also good news for your oral health because you take the aligner out to clean your teeth, enabling you to brush your teeth thoroughly. Invisalign aligners are also very comfortable; there are no metal components and no painful appointments to adjust or tighten the brace.

Thousands of people all over the world have already benefited from Invisalign treatment; call us today to book a consultation!

Perfect Clear Braces For Patients In Liverpool

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

Somehow we have arrived at a place where braces carry an unfortunate cultural stigma. Until such time as people stop being judged on appearances, or held at the mercy of culturally determined whims, then discreet methods of orthodontic treatment will at least provide brief respite for some from the onslaught of fashion-centric barbarism. If keeping said treatment out of the sight of waspish detractors sounds appealing, then perhaps you might want to investigate Perfect Clear Braces.

What exactly are ‘Perfect Clear braces’?

Well, they are series of clear plastic aligners which will gradual shift those mildly misaligned teeth to a preferred position.

The perks of perfect clear

Firstly, these plastic aligners are pretty much see-through. Their most marked selling point is, to be blunt, that they are ‘perfectly clear’; no one will notice that you are wearing them. There are also, however, some more practical benefits to be found with removable aligners: Your aligners can be taken out when cleaning, thus preventing food and plaque from mounting in hard to clean areas. It also means that you won’t have to purchase any of the cleaning equipment associated with fixed braces. Plus, you’ll be able to eat without fear! Braces are liable to break when you eat certain foods. By being able to take them out at meal times, this will no longer be a concern. There is also zero wire or elastic in Perfect Clear to rub or cut your gums, meaning you will be much more comfortable and less likely to get abscesses than with fixed braces.  They also require less maintenance than their fixed counterparts!

Are there any negative points?

Perfect clear has been known to have a minor effect on one’s speech, often resembling a lisp, which may last for a few days. You will, however, adjust to the aligners quickly and the problem should disappear pretty promptly.

Invisible Braces For Discreet Straightening For Patients In Liverpool

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

Everyone wants that perfect smile. The one that makes other people stop and notice your incredibly straight teeth. But unfortunately the chances are that some of your teeth may crooked or overlap with one another. Of course this can be remedied with braces as we all know. But lets face it, braces aren’t particularly popular- no one really fancies the idea of wearing a brace for three years. So dentists worked hard to come up with a solution, one of which is Invisalign braces treatment, a discreet fast acting system that is easily fitted and practically invisible.

The technology behind Invisalign

Most braces are fitted to the front of your teeth and gradually tightened over time so that your teeth are pulled into place. However, Invisalign is a plastic aligner that can be taken out to eat and brush your teeth. It is customized to fit around the contours of your teeth so it is comfortable and is made from clear plastic so it is only really noticeable up close. You have to wear the aligner for two weeks and then switch to another aligner, which is a slightly different shape. As this process is continued throughout your treatment, your teeth are gradually brought into line in a shorter time frame than other brace systems.

The benefits of Invisalign

As Invisalign is removable, it’s easier to maintain good oral hygiene. You don’t run the risk of getting pieces of food caught in your brace and your brace can be cleaned whenever you like. The clear plastic makes the brace extremely discreet and it is also very flexible so it is comfortable as there are no wires poking you in the gums. Also, as the brace is not fixed to your teeth, it does not cause any damage or discolouration to their surface so once the brace has done its job, there’s no further treatment required to spruce up your teeth. Clear Orthodontics At Liverpool Dental Spa

Braces get a bad rep. There’s no denying it; it isn’t pleasant, but they do. The logic behind this seems to have gone under the same intellectual rigour as the writing process behind a reality TV programme but, until braces have shaken their cultural shackles, it is understandable that you may demand a little discretion in your orthodontic treatment. Thankfully, as we don’t live in a 1980’s teen comedy, it is possible to have nigh-on invisible brace treatment!

What are Perfect Clear braces?

Perfect Clear is a series of clear plastic aligner which will gradually move your teeth into their desired position.

The advantages of Perfect Clear

First and foremost, they are pretty much invisible. Perhaps the most obvious selling point of clear braces is that no one need know that you are wearing them. There are, however, several other practical advantages which Perfect Clear provides alongside its aesthetic benefits. The most important, perhaps, being that they are removable. No longer will your teeth require special cleaning techniques to work around fixed wire; this is not convenient, but it also helps to keep your teeth free from the plaque and debris which can pile up in hard to reach places. You will also be able to eat without fear of breaking your brace as you can take it out whilst doing so! As there is no wire or elastic to rub against your gums, Perfect Clear braces are far more comfortable than fixed braces and far less likely to cause abscesses. You will also spend less time at a dental practice as you won’t need to have them tweaked!

Will Perfect Clear have any negatives effect on me?

Perfect Clear aligners can have a temporary effect on your speech; patients may experience a slight lisp for a day or so. Your mouth and tongue, however, will quickly adjust to the presence of the aligners and these problems should fade quite quickly.

Perfect Clear Braces So That Patients In Liverpool Can Smile In Confidence

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

For most people having to wear a brace on their teeth for several months can be quite daunting. Traditionally, they were forced to wear something that was either uncomfortable or garish to look at or both.

However in recent years, technological research has developed a range of new braces which are not only much more comfortable to wear but are also aesthetically pleasing.

But even so, for many people it would be even better to have something that is invisible or at least almost invisible to look at. And that’s where Invisalign braces come into their own. They could even be called the perfect brace.

Invisalign braces use a series of clear, removable teeth aligners whereas traditional braces tend to have fixed parts which over time can cause some discomfort as well as embarrassment for the wearer.

Invisalign braces on the other hand are effectively clear and can be removed when necessary.

Advantages of Clear Braces

The main advantage to wearing such braces is cosmetic. The aligners are completely transparent and therefore unobtrusive.

Also, since the aligners can be removed, food can be eaten without any of the parts getting in the way. Moreover it makes cleaning teeth and gums much easier.

While not proved, it is also said that the actual process of fitting clear braces is a lot quicker than fitting traditional fixed metal braces. Further they are said to work faster at straightening the teeth.

Disadvantages of Clear Braces

While clear braces have advantages for the fashion conscious individual they are not perfect in every way. There are some disadvantages to wearing them. For example, fitting them does depend on the cooperation of the patient. Further, ensuring they remain in place when needed is out of control of the dentist.

Similarly, since they are removable they can perhaps be lost. What’s more, they are more expensive than traditional methods, so losing them can be costly in more ways than one.

Patients’ habits can also affect the wear of the device. For instance, if the individual grinds his or her teeth this can easily damage the aligners.

Finally, the aligners are known to cause minor allergic reactions in some patients, such as a sore throat, a cough or in more severe cases, nausea.

Fool Your Friends this April Fools’ Day with an Invisible Invisalign Brace in Liverpool

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Custom dictates that on April 1st the jokes should really end around noon, lest you look the fool. But what if you kept a trick going for days, weeks or even months? Is it even a trick of you never get the big reveal? For many, the thought of dental braces are no laughing matter. Thankfully, with the Invisalign ‘Invisible’ brace, no one need ever be the wiser.

Benefits are not just cosmetic

Invisalign are virtually unnoticeable clear braces which can help one achieve a naturally straight smile without any apparent change in appearance. Aside from the ability to align teeth incognito, Invisalign can also provide a more comfortable experience than metal braces, which can inflame and irritate the gums. They are also more convenient, allowing one to take them out before eating and subsequently bypassing the age old complaint of getting food trapped between wire and elastic. The ability to remove Invisalign also helps with maintaining oral hygiene during treatment, something which can be neglected with metal braces and lead to future problems.

Suitability

For most orthodontic problems for patients in Liverpool, Invisalign braces are perfectly suited. In more severe cases however, other treatment may be deemed more effective. A patient’s suitability will easily be assessed during the initial consultation.

Standard procedure (in a nutshell)

Following the consultation the patient, if deemed suitable, would have a mould of their mouth taken, as well as several photographs. These would then be turned into a 3D model of their mouth, from which a simulation of their desired mouth position can be constructed. Aligners will be produced based on this model which will be changed every two weeks in order to gradually move their teeth to where they want them to be.
