  3. CEREC enables us to do everything on-site: usually, when you need a new crown, for example, we create a putty mould, which is sent away to the laboratory. With CEREC, we do everything on-site.

What is CEREC and what’s so good about it?

CEREC is a form of technology that allows us to complete the process of restoring the teeth in a single day. With CEREC, we can design, fabricate and fit a brand new crown, veneers, onlay or inlay in just one session, so there’s no hanging about, no temporary restorations and no need to book time off work.

CEREC treatment works by taking images of the teeth and using advanced software to convert them into templates for the new restoration. These virtual templates are sent to the on-site milling machine and the fabrication process begins. In just a couple of minutes, the milling machine creates a brand new, bespoke restoration. Once this process is complete, your dentist can then fit the restoration and you can see the results for yourself.

Traditionally, restorative treatment involves creating putty impressions, which are sent away to a laboratory where the restoration is made by a dental technician. This process usually takes around 2 weeks. With CEREC, we can do everything on-site and this saves a great deal of time as your new restoration will be ready on the same day. There’s also no need to fit a temporary restoration.   • CEREC same-day restorative treatment: we are fortunate to have CEREC technology on-site. This gives us the ability to offer same-day bespoke restorative treatment. With CEREC we can design, manufacture and place new veneers, crowns, inlays and onlays all in one day without having to send impressions away or fit temporary measures. CEREC vastly reduces treatment time and it also makes treatment more convenient for patients with hectic schedules. The process is also cleaner and more accurate than traditional methods.
  • Porcelain crowns: as well as same-day CEREC crowns, we also offer hand-crafted porcelain crowns, which sit on top of the teeth to offer protection and make the tooth more robust. Crowns are recommended when a tooth is broken or decayed and they can also be attached to dental implants as part of a tooth replacement. Porcelain crowns match the shade of healthy natural teeth and last for up to five years.
  • White fillings: fillings are placed when a cavity forms in the surface of the tooth. Cavities are holes often caused by acid erosion of the enamel. Fillings help to stem the spread of infection and white fillings restore the teeth without affecting the way it looks.

Implants are small devices made from titanium and are placed inside small holes in the jaw bone and then attached to a crown, bridge or denture once settled. Implants offer the same standard of stability and functionality as natural tooth roots and are an excellent long-term option.

What Exactly is Cerec Technology?

You may have heard dentists talking about the wonders of Cerec, but what exactly is Cerec and how could it benefit patients in Liverpool?

What exactly is Cerec?

Cerec is a form of advanced dental technology that gives dentists the ability to design and crate new bespoke restorations on-site. The process is incredibly quick and the technology takes care of all aspects of treatment, from the initial imaging and planning to the manufacture. Traditionally, patients who need a new crown or inlay visit their dentist and two weeks later, they have their restoration fitted. The stage in between takes place at a dental laboratory, where technicians use impressions of the tooth created by dentists, to make the new restoration. With Cerec, the entire process takes place at the clinic and the new restoration can be fitted in the same day.

Cerec uses images of the teeth captured by a digital camera to form new restorations. At the first stage, the images are converted into models by state of the art design software. These designs are then sent to the milling machine and the manufacturing process takes place. The bespoke restoration is ready in minutes and it is then fitted by your dentist.

What are the advantages of Cerec?

There are lots of advantages of Cerec treatment for dental patients and dentists. The speed of treatment is greatly reduced from two weeks to a single session and there is no need for temporary restorations, multiple treatments or putty impressions. New Teeth In Just One Day For Lucky Patients In The City Of Liverpool

In today’s fast moving world, we need dentistry that can keep up our Speedy Gonzales pace. One of the off-putting things about more complex dental procedures, such as having a dental crown produced, is the amount of time spent waiting around between multiple appointments. It just seems like a waiting and a lot of hassle. Thankfully, thanks to CEREC, such waiting can be a thing of the past!

What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Essentially it is an on-site milling machine which will produce a false tooth from a block of ceramic material. Depending on the complexity of the tooth being produced, this process can take anywhere between 6 and 30 minutes. These ceramic blocks come in a plethora of tooth-like shades and colours, so there should be no problem matching it to your other teeth!

What does a procedure with CEREC involve?

Firstly, you will be prepped as though you were having a standard crown or veneers procedure. However, rather than taking an impression of your teeth with dental putty, as is normal, your dentist will instead produce a digital image of your teeth by utilising a special camera. This picture will then be converted into a full 3D model of your tooth on a specialised computer. This 3D image will be used as a guide for designing your new tooth! After a few tweaks, the design will then be sent to the milling machine I mentioned previously. Once it has been produced, your tooth can then be stained or otherwise altered to help it sit naturally amongst your other teeth.  It will then be polished or glazed and then cemented into place!

The benefits of CEREC

Well, speed is the most obvious one: Not only does that mean ‘just one’ visit, but it also means ‘just one’ local anaesthetic. It also means ‘no temporary fittings’. Temporary fittings are common whilst patients are waiting for veneers or crown to return from a lab, but they do have a tendency to fall off!  As you will be present during the production, you will also be able to influence your tooth’s design more than if it was being produced off-site.
