The Wand

One of the main reasons people are anxious about going to the dentist is a fear of injections and needles. With the help of The Wand, we are able to promise our patients completely painless injections and this treatment is beneficial for both children and adults. The Wand looks like an average everyday pen, but it is actually a needle that is controlled by a computer. The computer regulates the flow of fluid through the needle to prevent pain. You see, the majority of painful injections are caused by a sudden spurt or fast flow of fluid, and this is never a possibility with The Wand.

Sedation

Sedation is a very popular technique that’s used to help patients feel completely relaxed when they have a dental procedure. This technique uses sedative medication to bring the body into a deep state of calm, so that your mind is relaxed and you don’t experience any pain at all. Sedation is hugely beneficial for nervous patients and it can also be advantageous for those who are undergoing a lengthy or complex procedure.

Sedation doesn’t make you lose consciousness like general anaesthetic and you won’t have to stay with us after treatment. About our invisible braces

We offer a range of clear brace orthodontic solutions to allow you to enjoy your treatment on the down low. Our treatments include Perfect Clear, Invisalign, Clearstep and Simpli5. We also offer 6 Month Smiles, Damon Braces and CFast, all of which are extremely discreet.

Clearstep, Invisalign and Simpli5 are all aligner systems, which have a similar approach to treatment. These removable aligners are made from clear plastic and each treatment works in a series, with patients wearing a number of different aligners; the number of aligners usually depends on the complexity of the prescription, apart from Simpli5, which uses five aligners. Fillings are commonly used to treat cavities (holes that form in the tooth surface). This helps to prevent the spread of infection through the tooth and also strengthens the tooth to protect it from injury in the future.

The procedure

The filling procedure is simple, quick and painless. Once bonding material has been placed in the cavity, we will then insert the composite and mould it (at this stage the composite is in putty form) to fill the cavity and then set it to harden it using a curing light. Once the filling is hard, any final adjustments will be made and then you’ll be free to go home.

Dental hygiene at Liverpool Dental Spa

Dental hygiene is a really important part of our preventative and general dental service and we highly recommend seeing a dental hygienist on a regular basis. This is not just beneficial for patients who have existing issues, it can also really help those with good oral health to maintain healthy, strong teeth and gums.

Our hygienists provide a range of preventative services, as well as treatment for bad breath, staining and gum disease. Oral hygiene treatments are designed to provide intensive and powerful cleaning to free the mouth from harmful bacteria and cleanse and polish the teeth and gums to prevent decay and gingivitis.

Oral hygiene at home

It’s really important to maintain a thorough daily oral hygiene routine at home and to keep on top of brushing and flossing to prevent plaque formation. Plaque is the sticky substance you can see and feel on the teeth if you avoid brushing, and is the main cause of gum disease and decay.

We recommend brushing twice a day for at least 2 minutes in the morning and evening. Ideally, you should use fluoride toothpaste and ensure that you cover every surface of every tooth and spend an equal amount of time on each quadrant of the mouth. If you have trouble keeping track of how long you’ve brushed for, it may be worth buying a brush with a timer, setting a timer on your phone or even brushing along to your favourite song.

Flossing is also really beneficial as it cleans between the teeth and along the gum line. Try to floss daily and always be very gentle – don’t pull at the floss, as this can hurt your gums.
