Invisible Braces for an Incredible Smile in the Centre of Liverpool

January 22nd, 2015

If an incredible smile is your goal for 2015, our invisible braces could be the perfect choice for you. We offer a range of discreet orthodontic solutions to enable you to enjoy your dream smile without anyone knowing that you’re having treatment.

Our treatments

We are proud to provide a number of invisible brace treatments, including:

  • Invisalign
  • Clearstep
  • MTM No Trace Brace
  • Perfect Clear

Invisible braces offer a modern alternative to traditional fixed braces and are an excellent choice for patients who want to feel confident throughout the treatment process. With these innovative systems, you can have the treatment you need with no worries about how you will look or feel once the braces are fitted, or how your social or professional life will be affected.

Which treatment is best for me?

Invisalign, Perfect Clear and Clearstep are clear aligner systems that employ a sequence of bespoke aligners to correct misalignment and produce straight smiles. These systems are ideally suited to patients with minor or moderate needs and they are a great option for those who prefer the flexibility of a removable brace.

MTM No Trace Brace is an invisible fixed brace treatment that is designed for patients who only require minor correction. The theory behind treatment is very similar to that of traditional fixed braces, but the braces are attached to the back of the teeth, rather than the front, so they cannot be seen at all.

All these treatments have pros and cons and they suit some patients better than others. When you have your consultation, your dentist will use simple tests to assess your needs and then chat to you about the kind of treatments you would prefer or be interested in. They can then narrow down your options and talk you through the ones that suit you best.

What are Dental Implants in Liverpool?

January 16th, 2015

Dental implants are a modern solution for tooth loss and we are proud to offer the world’s leading dental implant systems. Whether you are missing a single tooth or you’re looking for a replacement for multiple missing teeth, dental implants could be the answer.

What exactly is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small screw-shaped device made from titanium. It is implanted into a small opening in the jaw bone and is designed to act as a replacement tooth root. Titanium is biocompatible and this means that implants are able to integrate into the actual bone tissue. This enables the implant to provide the same level of stability and support as a tooth root.

The integration stage takes a few months and once this is complete, the implant is then attached to a new restoration. This stage of treatment replaces the tooth crown. Implants are compatible with bridges, crowns and dentures, so they can be used for single or multiple tooth restorations.

What are the advantages of dental implant treatment?

Implants are the best long-term option for missing teeth. They are built to last, they provide amazing aesthetics, they are easy to maintain and they provide you the same level of functionality as strong natural teeth.

Implants are versatile and they are suitable for most patients. They can be used to replace a single tooth or a full arch of teeth and they produce amazing results without interfering with the oral structures or causing any discomfort.

In addition to standard dental implants, we also offer mini implants, implant-retained dentures and the amazing All-on-4 system.

If you’d like to find out more about dental implant treatment at Liverpool Dental Spa or you’re eager to learn if you’re a good match for dental implants, don’t hesitate to get in touch via the telephone or the website.

Restore Your Smile This January in the Heart of Liverpool

January 8th, 2015

Most people require a little patching up and TLC from time to time and at Liverpool Dental Spa, we offer an extensive range of restorative treatments to repair chipped, broken and damaged teeth and enhance the aesthetic of the smile. If you’re in need for some repair work and you’re searching for natural looking, durable solutions, look no further! Our expert dentists use high quality materials to produce fantastic results every time.

Our restorative treatments

Restorative dentistry is concerned with strengthening, repairing and restoring the teeth to improve their function and reduce the risk of further damage. Restorative work can also have major benefits for the look of the smile and subsequently, the client’s confidence.

Our restorative treatments include:

  • dental crowns
  • dental bridges
  • treatment for broken teeth, including bonding and veneers
  • inlays and onlays
  • Cerec single visit restorations

Crowns and bridges

Crowns and bridges are popular treatments for broken and missing teeth respectively. Dental crowns are placed over the top of the tooth and they are most commonly used when a tooth is decayed or damaged as a result of injury. Crowns help to make the tooth stronger and they can also have a very positive impact on the tooth aesthetic. Bridges are an affordable, simple and effective solution for missing teeth. Treatment is usually complete in just two sessions and we can use ceramics, such as porcelain, to create a very natural look. The most popular type of bridge is made from a false tooth that is supported on either side by a new crown. Crowns and bridges should last for around 8-15 years if they are well cared for.

Cerec

Cerec is an innovative form of technology, which cuts treatment time and enables patients to enjoy the benefits of restorative treatment instantly. This is a single session treatment, which uses advanced technology to enable us to produce bespoke inlays and onlays, crowns and veneers on-site in just one day. Cerec takes care of the design and manufacturing processes and we then fit the new restoration.

5 Oral Hygiene Tips to Help You Kick Start 2015 in Liverpool

January 6th, 2015

Looking after your teeth and gums is a great resolution for 2015. If you’re eager to protect those pearly whites and prevent toothache, cavities and gum disease, here are some tips for healthy smiles in the New Year:

1. Change your toothbrush: many of us get comfortable with a toothbrush and wait for months, even years to replace it. It’s actually really important to swap your brush or the brush head (in the case of an electric toothbrush), as once the bristles start to become worn, they become less effective. Ideally, you should swap your toothbrush every 3-4 months.

2. Brush with a timer: many of us are familiar with the morning dash to get ready and this can mean that teeth cleaning suffers. This year, make it your resolution to get up a few minutes earlier to ensure you have time to devote at least 2 minutes to brushing your teeth before you leave the house. If you struggle with timing, you can buy brushes with in-built timers, use a stop-clock on your phone or simply pop a song on and brush along.

3. Floss! Many of us admit to overlooking flossing and relying soley on brushing, but flossing is really important because it cleans the areas that are prone to plaque build-up because they are hard to reach with a brush, such as the gum line and the small gaps between your teeth. If you don’t like flossing, you can also use inter-dental brushes.

4. Use fluoride toothpaste: fluoride is a mineral found naturally in drinking water and it is often added to toothpaste to strengthen and protect the enamel. We recommend fluoride toothpaste for children and adults. For children under the age of 7 years old, we recommend specific children’s toothpaste, as this contains a lower quantity of fluoride.

5. Book a dental hygiene session: many assume that you only need to see a dental hygienist if you already have issues, such as bad breath or gum disease. However, seeing a hygienist can actually be hugely beneficial for everyone, even those with excellent oral health. Hygienists provide intensive cleaning treatments that polish the teeth and remove surface stains, rid the mouth of harmful bacteria and cleanse the gums.

Greet the New Year with a Gum Disease Free Smile in Liverpool!

January 2nd, 2015

The New Year is here and what better way to start it off than with a beaming, healthy smile? At Liverpool Dental Spa, we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure and we do all we can to help our patients remain disease free. If you have concerns about gum disease or you’d like to find out more about how you can prevent gum disease in Liverpool, here are some simple tips:

Focus on brushing and flossing: good oral hygiene is the most effective means of keeping gum disease at bay. The good news is that it only takes a few minutes to make a difference and simply spending 2 minutes every morning and evening brushing your teeth will help to reduce the risk of plaque formation. Plaque is a sticky substance that contains harmful bacteria. It is the leading cause of decay and gum disease. Our brushing tips include brushing thoroughly, but not firmly, and using fluoride toothpaste. We also recommend using inter-dental brushes or dental floss to clean in between the teeth.

Change your eating habits: most people are aware that what they eat has a bearing on their oral health, but did you know that it’s also really important to think about when you eat. The frequency that you eat actually has a greater influence on your health than what you eat and this is because your enamel temporarily softens when you eat as a result of bacteria in the mouth releasing acids. If you snack throughout the day, this means that the enamel is constantly soft and weak. Leaving time between meals enables the enamel to recover. If you do fancy a snack or you need something to keep you going, try to avoid anything acidic or sugary.

Look out for the warning signs: often, time is of the essence when it comes to gum disease, as it can progress fairly quickly. If you have an idea of the signs you should be looking out for, this will enable you to seek help from your dentist at an early stage when it’s still possible to reverse the effects of gum disease. Gingivitis, the mild form of gum disease, is usually easy to manage, but if it is left alone it can turn into advanced gum disease, known as periodontal disease. If you notice bleeding when you brush or your gums feel sore, tender or swollen, call and arrange an appointment.

How to Start Your New Year Without Fearing the Dentist

December 26th, 2014

Many people suffer from dental anxiety or dental phobia, and we offer a range of techniques and treatments to try and help our patients feel more relaxed and enable them to overcome their fears. Our team is highly experienced and we go out of our way to help patients who struggle with anxiety and nerves.

Sedation for nervous patients

Sedation is a technique we use to help patients to feel completely comfortable during dental procedures. It involves using sedative medication to bring the mind and body into a state of calm. When you’re sedated, you can’t feel any pain and you won’t have much idea of what’s going on. Sedation is not the same as general anaesthetic, and we provide sedation at the clinic. You don’t have to stay in after treatment and you won’t lose consciousness. Sedation can be really beneficial for those with anxiety, as well as those who suffer from a fear of pain, the drill or needles. It can also be helpful for long and complex procedures.

The Wand

The Wand is an innovative treatment  used to treat patients who suffer from a phobia of needles or injections. This device, which looks similar to a pen, is controlled by a computer, and it helps to prevent painful injections by regulating the speed of the flow of fluid from the injection. The vast majority of painful injections are caused by a sudden spurt of fluid or the fluid going through the syringe too quickly, but with The Wand, this is not possible. The Wand also looks much less threatening than a traditional injection. This treatment is suitable for adults and children.

Spa services

We can also offer spa services to help nervous patients to relax. Our treatments include aromatherapy, hot stone massage, foot massage and facials.
