Fantastic Fast Acting Braces

September 14th, 2016

Many people are reluctant to have orthodontic treatment because they assume that it takes years; however, there have been major developments and advances in the world of orthodontics and we are delighted to offer patients an amazing fixed brace treatment, which straightens the teeth to create beautiful smiles in just six months!

About Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles is an innovative, fast-acting fixed brace system, which produces fantastic results in a fraction of the time of most other fixed brace treatments. The key to this treatment is that it focuses on the teeth at the front of your mouth, known as the ‘social 6’; these are the teeth that can be seen when you smile.

Six Month Smiles is technically advanced treatment, which uses self-ligating wires to reduce discomfort and speed up tooth movement.

Who is the ideal candidate for Six Month Smiles treatment?

Six Month Smiles is designed for patients who have minor or moderate crowding, small gaps between the front teeth, mild issues with underbite or overbite or slightly crooked front teeth. It is not suitable for patients with complex needs or issues that affect the back teeth.

Six Month Smiles is a great choice for people who have time constraints. For example, if you have minor issues you want to address in time for a wedding or your graduation.

What are the benefits of Six Month Smiles

Aside from the obvious benefit of speedy treatment, Six Month Smiles also offers discretion, as the braces are made from tooth-coloured wires and transparent brackets, so they are much less visible than traditional fixed braces. These braces also use low-pressure forces to move the teeth, which reduces friction and makes treatment much more comfortable. As these braces work so quickly, they are an excellent option for patients who cannot wait to show off the results of their treatment.

Excellent Dental Care for the Whole Family

September 12th, 2016

Striving to provide communities with holistic dentistry care, Liverpool Dental Spa offers treatments for people of all ages.

Introducing infants to dental care

Our oral structures start to develop from birth. It is therefore important for infants to have a dental check-up so that they get used to dental care and to ensure that they are developing as they should.

Prevention of tooth decay and gum disease

Every member of the family is vulnerable to developing tooth decay or gum disease. Dentists and dental hygienists provide advice about oral hygiene practices and nutritious eating for stronger and healthier teeth and gums.

Six monthly dental check-ups enable a dentist to identify early signs of oral decay or disease. Emergency dentistry care is available for sudden oral trauma, including tooth ache and knocked out teeth. Seeing a dental hygienist ever three months for teeth cleaning, scaling and polishing helps to remove plaque and tartar where tooth brushes may not reach on a daily basis.

Orthodontic care

As toddlers develop milk teeth that are gradually replaced by permanent ones, orthodontic conditions may arise. Teeth may grow crooked or irregularly spaced. These conditions including protruding and overcrowded teeth may be treated with modern braces systems designed to improve oral function and facial aesthetics. Adults may similarly need teeth straightening and treatment for jaw disorders or bruxism.

Teeth replacement options

We offer choices in artificial teeth replacement for one or more missing teeth from tooth decay, gum disease or oral trauma. These natural looking options include crowns, bridges, dentures and dental implants. Dental implants act as replacements for tooth roots to which tooth restorations may be anchored for greater control over oral functions and a beautiful smile.

Say Bye Bye to Wrinkles With Anti-Ageing Injections

September 6th, 2016

Many of us wish we could turn back the clock and bring back that fresh, smooth complexion we enjoyed in our youth. But now you can! With the help of injectable anti-ageing treatments, you can preserve your natural beauty and keep everyone guessing your real age.

What are injectable anti-ageing treatments?

Botox is a very popular anti-ageing skin treatment that smoothes the complexion by preventing muscle contraction and subsequently the development of lines and wrinkles. Botox is actually short for Botulinum toxin type A. Although Botox is a toxin, it is used in such small quantities that it is completely safe when administered by a trained professional.

These popular anti-ageing treatments can smooth out your complexion by temporarily stopping the muscles in your face from contracting, banishing lines and wrinkles. These injections are completely safe in the hands of a trained professional and can be used to treat:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Laughter lines
  • Frown lines on the forehead

About treatment

The procedure is easy! The anti-ageing treatment will be injected into the areas you want to treat using a very fine needle. The injections shouldn’t cause much discomfort and the treatment is usually complete in around half an hour. It’s a wonderful option for anyone who wants to get a gorgeous youthful glow without having invasive surgery.

What happens after treatment?

One of the best things about injectable anti-ageing treatment is that there’s no recovery time, so you can get on with your day as soon as you leave the practice. You’ll be able to see the results almost straight away, but you’ll really start to look younger in a couple of days.

The results of injectable anti-ageing treatments should last for about six months. You’ll be welcome to come back to the practice after this time if you fancy a top-up to preserve your rejuvenated complexion.

The Groundbreaking Inman Aligner

September 2nd, 2016

At Liverpool Dental Spa, we’re always on the watch for ground-breaking treatments that will make a positive difference to our clients and the Inman Aligner is one of our most treasured treatments. This innovative removable orthodontic appliance produces outstanding results in a matter of weeks, providing patients who have minor orthodontic issues with a swift and hassle-free alternative to traditional braces. If you’re looking for a fast and simple solution to troublesome front teeth, this could be the perfect choice for you.

About the Inman Aligner

The Inman Aligner is a discreet, removable brace designed to align the teeth with minimal stress. The aligner works by generating forces that push and pull the teeth, moving them into position and creating beautifully straight smiles. These forces are produced by two main parts, which can be found behind the front teeth (a coiled spring) and along the front of the teeth (a fine metal bar). The Inman Aligner doesn’t promise complete invisibility, but it is a much more discreet option than many other types of brace, as the only part you can see is the metal bar.

The main advantage of the Inman Aligner is the speed of treatment. As this aligner is designed for patients who only need minor correction and it uses the latest technology, treatment times are incredibly short and most cases are completed within 16 weeks. With this treatment, you can also enjoy greater freedom afforded by having a removable brace. You can take your aligner out to eat and drink and you can also continue to brush your teeth as normal. This appliance targets the front teeth and is a great choice for people who don’t need the intensive treatment provided by conventional fixed braces and for those who have already had treatment and started to experience relapse.

If you think the Inman Aligner sounds like a perfect match for you, why not give us a call and book a consultation? Our expert dentists will be able to tell you more about the treatment and assess your needs to see whether this could be a viable option for you.

Dentistry the Whole Family Can Smile About

August 26th, 2016

Oral health is important at all ages, which is why comprehensive dental care is available for all the family. Most oral health problems can be prevented, so it’s important to focus on keeping our teeth healthy and strong to keep gum disease and tooth decay at bay. These problems don’t just affect your mouth, they can have a knock-on effect on your overall health, not to mention your confidence and wellbeing!

Children’s oral health

Children’s teeth are precious things and your little ones should really start visiting the dentist from the age of 12 months. It’s important to make dental trips fun so your child always has positive memories of the experience. Dental phobia is common even in youngsters, but enjoying a trip can help to make your child feel at ease. Children should learn about diet and oral hygiene from an early age and your dental team will be able to give you plenty of advice to keep those pearly whites beautifully bright.

Adult oral health

Your teeth say a lot about your general health and it’s very important to look after both them and your gums. Most dentists have loads of hygiene treatments to offer so you don’t have to shake hands with any nasty oral diseases. They’ll also offer lots of restorative treatments and nutrition advice, as well as tips for quitting smoking.

Check-ups

All dentists recommend regular dental check-ups for all the family. You should really see your dentist every six to nine months. Routine check-ups don’t last long but they can make a massive difference to your oral health because it helps the dentist spot any early warning signs. It also makes sure your teeth look beautiful and healthy.

The Signs and Symptoms of Gum Disease

August 24th, 2016

Gum disease falls under the umbrella of periodontal disease and begins with gingivitis before entering into a far more severe stage known as periodontitis. Periodontitis can lead to numerous problems within the mouth and is something you definitely do not want.  It can be very dangerous if left untreated and unfortunately, it often develops silently with very few signs and symptoms.

Problems with gum disease

This means that often, by the time it has been diagnosed, the condition has advanced to a stage far more severe than it would have been if caught a lot earlier. It has also been found that gum disease can often lead to heart disease and other life threatening illnesses, so it is not to be taken lightly. Never underestimate the mouth’s importance in maintaining a healthy body – it should be treated just as seriously as you would the rest of your body and should definitely not be ignored.

How it develops

As mentioned above, gum disease often develops silently, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things to look out for, symptoms that can precede the arrival of gum disease. For example, if you have red, swollen gums, unexplainable bad breath or experience any noticeable pain within the mouth, please consult a dentist immediately, as this can be a definite precursor to gum disease. Other precursors include loose teeth, mouth sores, a change in the teeth structure made evident when you clamp down, pus developing between gums and teeth and even the bleeding of gums when you are brushing.

Signs and symptoms like these are the body’s way of raising a red flag, warning you of nasty things developing inside. The worst thing you can do is to ignore these red flags and the best thing you can do is consult a dentist. Contact us at Liverpool Dental Spa for more information on gum disease.

The Many Benefits of Six Month Smiles

August 22nd, 2016

If you’re looking for an orthodontic treatment that offers an amazing range of benefits, look no further than Six Month Smiles, our revolutionary teeth straightening treatment that takes just six months to produce beautiful smiles.

All about Six Month Smiles

Most fixed brace treatments take at least a year to straighten the teeth, so this is a really impressive treatment. Six Month Smiles uses the latest technology, including self-ligating wires, to move the teeth rapidly and offers a fast and comfortable alternative to traditional fixed braces. Speed is important for many patients, as they want to show off their new smile as quickly as possible, so this is a great option for those looking for short treatment times.

Six Month Smiles works much faster than traditional braces for two main reasons. Firstly, the technology is extremely advanced and this means that the actual movement of the teeth is quicker. Secondly, the braces focus solely on the front teeth, as these are the teeth than can be seen when you speak and smile.

Benefits of Six Month Smiles

The best thing about Six Month Smiles is the speed of treatment, but there are so many other advantages. These braces are made from tooth-coloured components, making them very discreet and the self-ligating wires help to prevent discomfort. As treatment works so quickly, these braces provide an ideal solution for people who want to look their best and have a deadline, such as a wedding celebration, an important interview or a graduation ceremony in mind.

Could this be the treatment for me?

Six Month Smiles is a great option for patients who have mild or moderate issues with their front teeth and an excellent choice for those who would prefer a more discreet brace than traditional fixed braces. We will be able to ascertain whether this is a good option for you during your consultation. We will also be happy to discuss other treatment options with you.

Dentures vs. Dental Implants

August 18th, 2016

At Liverpool Dental Spa, we are proud to offer the latest treatments for missing teeth, including dental implants and modern dentures. We recommend replacing missing teeth for many reasons, from improved quality of life and enhanced facial aesthetics to better oral health.

Our treatments

We offer a range of tooth replacement treatments, including dentures and dental implants.

Dental implants are one of the most exciting developments in modern dentistry. They provide a long-term solution for missing teeth and offer the same level of functionality as natural teeth.

Dentures have been used for many years and are a tried and tested method. They are sets of false teeth designed to restore full function to the mouth and improve the aesthetic of the smile. Modern dentures are very lifelike and boast excellent standards of functionality.

Which is better: dentures or dental implants?

It is hard to say which is better, as patients have different needs and one treatment might suit one patient better than another.

Dental implants are advantageous because they last a long time, they recreate the aesthetic and role of the natural teeth and they also help to reduce bone loss. Implants are a more expensive treatment option, but they last a lot longer than dentures and dental bridges, they are easier to maintain and there are no problems with the denture becoming loose or irritating the gums.

Dentures can be beneficial for patients who have a large number of missing teeth and they are a more affordable option than dental implants. Modern dentures are much lighter and more lifelike than dentures of old and they can really make a difference to your quality of life.

If you are interested in restorative treatment and would like to find out more about dentures and dental implants or discuss your options with one of our friendly dentists, contact reception today to book a consultation.

The Benefits of the Dental Implant Process

August 16th, 2016

Dental implants are a dentistry solution for people with missing teeth to have one or more replacement tooth roots inserted. Nowadays, people with dentures, bridges and crowns can choose a more stable, natural tooth replacement treatment with dental implants.

Dental implants are titanium-made posts or screws to which artificial replacement teeth are anchored. These titanium posts are inserted through the gum tissue and securely fitted. Over time these posts permanently fuse with the jaw bone structure through a process called osseointegration.

Diagnostic tests for patients enable dentists to identify jaw bone suitability for dental implants. If too narrow the jaw bone may need to be strengthened through bone augmentation procedures. In some cases, a sinus lift may be necessary to create enough space for dental implant insertion without impacting the sinus cavity.

Dental implant software enables the dentist to specify exactly where the dental implants are to be inserted. A tiny incision is created within the gum and a flap of gum tissue lifted, at which point the dental implant is inserted. A small drill is used to gently create a carefully-measured space within the jaw bone for insertion of the titanium post, custom-made for the patient’s treatment and their dental and jaw dimensions.

The dentist then inserts temporary or immediate dental implants into the space made within the jaw bone. The insertion site is treated and then left to heal for a period of six weeks to six months. The recovery time for the bone to start fusing and the gum tissue to heal is different for each person depending on their health condition and rate of healing.

The process may take longer if a bone graft is necessary to build up the jaw bone density first, or if a sinus lift is needed to protect the sinus cavity. Once healed, permanent dental implants are fitted and anchored with natural-looking replacement teeth.
