If snoring is keeping you awake at night and you’re dreaming of a good night’s sleep, we may be able to help. At Liverpool Dental Spa, we have experience in treating patients who snore on a regular basis and we can help to bring peace back to your household.
Why do I snore?
You may not know that you snore, but it’s highly likely that others will tell you if you’re keeping them up. If you’re tired of getting a barrage of complaints every morning or you feel guilty about keeping your other half up, we may have just the solution. The noise you hear when you snore is caused by the soft tissue at the back of the throat vibrating. In many cases, snoring occurs as a temporary effect of illness, for example when you have a cold, or when you change sleeping position. It’s very common to snore when you lie on your back, for example. Snoring can also be caused by drinking, as alcohol relaxes the muscles in the throat. Persistent snoring may be a side-effect of smoking and it is also linked to being overweight.
How we can help
If you’ve tried changing your sleeping position and you’re still snoring, we may recommend wearing a specially designed bite guard at night. This bite guard is a device, which helps to improve air flow while you sleep, increasing the amount of oxygen you take in. The appliance works by adjusting the position of the jaw, moving the lower jaw forward slightly to maximise oxygen uptake.
Our bite guards are designed for the individual and they’re comfortable to wear.
If snoring is getting you down or you live with a snorer and you can’t remember the last time you had a peaceful night, now is the time to get in touch! We might just be able to make sleepless nights a thing of the past.
