Patients In Liverpool Can Now Look Younger, And Feel Better

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

The idea of conventional aesthetic treatment at a dentist’s surgery might sound strange but, as Nabokov said of Gogol’s prose, “genius is always strange.” The strict hygiene standard’s to which dental practices must hold themselves makes them the ideal place for any kind of procedure, and you can even have your face treated alongside your teeth! At Liverpool Dental Spa we recommend ‘Restylane’ when it comes to facial rejuvenation.

What is ‘Restylane’ exactly?

Restylane is a brand, a brand name that covers a large range of injectable ‘fillers’ which are often used to enhance the appearance of people’s lips. Restylane do provide products to tackle crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles as well.

What are dermal fillers?

Substances which, when injected into the skin, restore skin volume and smooth out facial wrinkles.

What’s so special about Restylane?

As human beings, we have a natural collagen fibre layer which supports the skin. This fibre layer will unfortunately deteriorate as we age. Restylane products use hyaluronic acid, a natural substance, which can combat the deterioration of this layer and hydrate and plump up skin. The product itself is a gel, so it can be a fantastic way of rejuvenating the face without resorting to invasive surgery. No animal testing was or is relied on in the production of Restylane gel.

How long do results last for?

The results last for about a year, but can be easily topped up if you wish to maintain their effect.

The actual treatment itself is very quick: The process can take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour! The length of the procedure is affected by the area being treated. During the treatment, your dentist will inject tiny quantities of Restylane into the skin using a very fine needle. When tackling wrinkles, a Restylane injection will produce natural volume under the wrinkle, lifting it up and smoothing the area out.

Dental Spa Treatments For Liverpool Patients To Luxuriate In

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

The term “dental spa” is not new. It is thought its use came into fashion in Bath during the 18th century when people travelled to that city to bathe in the spa waters.

Interestingly at that time a woman dentist – Ms Curris – offered beauty treatments to local women along with dental treatment.

Since then dentists have been offering other treatments besides extractions and fillings. As such, there are an increasing number of treatments available, some of which are listed below.

Cosmetic dentistry

This covers a number of treatments, all of which help improve the appearance of the teeth. They include veneers, tooth whitening, bridgework implants, tooth straightening gum re-shaping, tooth re-shaping and cosmetic bonding. The latter is a treatment for restoring the surface of teeth by applying an enamel-like material. It is generally used when teeth are worn or chipped or to fill small gaps in between teeth.

Minor medical procedures

While traditionally this sort of thing was carried out by plastic surgeons, dentists can now offer simple cosmetic treatments. The commonest is Botox and filler therapies, but there are other treatments now available such as laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, lip augmentation and skin rejuvenation.

Other minor medical procedures include treating a variety of skin complaints such as sun damaged skin, skin tag, mole, wart and verruca removal, and microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is something that was at one time carried out specifically by plastic surgeons, but cosmetic dentists are now able to offer this type of procedure as well.

The technique is basically a skin rejuvenation procedure that is designed to restore the youthful appearance of the face. Treatments could include removing fine lines and wrinkles, improving oily, dry, and patchy or acne prone skin, removing blackheads, whiteheads, superficial age spots and hyper pigmentation

Patients In Liverpool Get A Younger Looking Face With Juvederm

Thursday, September 13th, 2012

Certain types of cosmetic therapy are now being employed by dentists as an addition to the regular dental services. While most people will have heard of Botox treatment, there is another similar treatment now being offered called Juvederm.

Juvederm is facial filler that is injected under the skin to help soften folds and reduce wrinkles.

Unlike many dermatological fillers Juvederm is essentially hyaluronic acid. This is found naturally in skin, muscles and tendons in all mammals including humans. In the latter however it is used primarily to improve skin quality, particularly for treating smile lines. These are the creases in the skin that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Juvederm is also often used as a lip augmentation agent and as a kind of repair filler for scars.

How does Juvederm work?

As hyaluronic acid is a natural chemical found in the skin, it is naturally absorbed. It is this natural absorption property that makes it a useful product for use by cosmetic surgeons, and more recently dentists to rejuvenate sagging skin. It does it by effectively plumping it up by adding new volume under the skin.

Many older people prefer using Juvederm to other fillers because it is known to bind with collagen, another natural product which gives skin its elastic property. Hence, they look more youthful.

Side Effects

Like all products there will be side effects which should not be discounted. Minor side effects could include temporary redness or bruising and possible short term pain around the area of the injection. This is generally common with any treatment of this sort and is not particular to Juvederm.

More serious side effects however could be immune system reactions. As such, it should not used on anyone who is prone to allergic reactions to bacterial proteins or has a history of anaphylaxis – a life threatening disorder.

Juvederm For Fresh, Plumped and Younger Looking Skin For Patients in Liverpool

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

No matter what we do, ageing is a fact of life. One day our skin will no longer be as fresh and as plump as it once was and wrinkles will be setting in for the long haul. Although creams can help to some extent the deeper the lines and wrinkles go the harder they are to disguise.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a non-invasion treatment that helps to re-plump the skin giving it a more youthful appearance. It is made using substances that are found naturally within the human body and therefore is kinder than other alternatives. The treatment is administered via injections and can be directed to target specific areas such as area around the mouth, eyes, lips and smokers lines which occur along the upper lip.

Treatment

On average the treatment is completed within 30 to 60 minutes and the effects generally last anywhere from 6 to 9 months. However this is only a guide and can be either longer or shorter depending on the individual’s current skin condition and lifestyle. A smoker may very well find that repeat injections are needed sooner, as the effects of smoking are more damaging to the skins appearance than other daily contributing factors.

The main benefit of Juvederm is that the rest time required is very minimal. Normal daily activities can be carried out straight away. However, strenuous exercise, sun and heat exposure and alcohol should be avoided for the first 24 hours after treatment. As with any treatment there can be side effects such as redness, swelling, itching and some discomfort. However these side effects will only last a short time and should be completely gone within 7 days, if they appear at all. Then, you will be left with a fresh, rejuvenated, youthful appearance.

Patients in Liverpool can Enhance Their Appearance with Dermal Fillers

Friday, July 13th, 2012

While developing some wrinkles on the skin is a natural part of aging, it can be easy to feel self-conscious about this. Feeling confident about the appearance of your skin, particularly on your face, is a big part of feeling comfortable with your appearance in general. It is not just the normal effects of aging that can affect this either, as smoking can cause extra lines around the mouth, for example. However, nowadays it is becoming more and more common for people to receive cosmetic treatments to help with these issues, and Liverpool Dental Implant and Aesthetic Spa offers a helpful treatment in the shape of Restylane.

What can Restylane help with?

Restylane is helpful in restoring more volume to the skin or lips, without the need for any invasive surgery. A large number of age-related appearance issues can be treated with Restylane, including smoker’s lines around the mouth and lips, so-called ‘crow’s feet’ around the eyes, facial scars, wrinkles and creases on the forehead and frown lines between the eyes. Restylane can also be used to fill out and ‘plump up’ thin lips into a fuller shape.

What is Restylane and what does treatment involve?

Restylane, along with other such fillers, is made from a special gel constructed from a form of degradable acid, which is perfectly safe for the skin and body. The degradable nature of the gel means that the effects are not permanent, and it will be necessary to revisit the Liverpool practice to continue seeing the effects – but after just one treatment with Restylane, the visible effects can last as long as a year. The treatment works by the filler gel being injected with a very fine needle to ensure minimal pain, and a treatment can take as little as thirty minutes.

Patients from Central Liverpool Can Experience a Brand New Face to Go With Their Smile with Botox and Dermal Filler Treatments

Friday, June 15th, 2012

As we age our skin loses its natural elasticity and collagen, both of which are needed to keep the face looking smooth and healthy.

Today, treatments are now available that can restore the face to its former glory, without the need for invasive surgery, which include the innovative Botox and Dermal filler treatments.

What is Botox?

Botox is a distilled toxin treatment, which is used to reduce the action of facial muscles that cause severe lines and wrinkles. Botox has been used for many years but it is still an art, which is why we only have the very finest practitioners at Liverpool Dental Implant and Aesthetic Spa who provide the treatment.

What can Botox treat?

Botox can be used to treat a range of age related problems, which include:

  • Lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
  • Creases around the nose and mouth.
  • Frown lines across the forehead.
  • Smokers’ lines.

Botox is applied using a small, fine needle, to target and address your problem areas, with treatment taking around 10-30 minutes and results that last for around 3-4 months.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers plump up the skin to replace the lost volume your face is missing and are injected into the areas you wish to enhance.

Dermal Fillers can be used to:

  • Plump up thin lips.
  • Treat deep creases around the mouth and nose.
  • Smooth out the appearance of smokers’ lines.
  • Soft lines and wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers are also administered with a fine needle, with sessions usually taking around 30 minutes and results lasting for over a year.

When the results of your Botox and Dermal Filler treatments have worn off we can provide follow up treatment to maintain your new look.

If you would like more information on Botox and Dermal Fillers contact our clinic. We are based in Central Liverpool but provide services for patients throughout the country.

Patients in Liverpool are Experiencing the Amazing Facial Transformation of Restylane and Botox

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Dental practices are now able to transform your face as well as your smile for a truly amazing makeover.

Two of the treatments we provide at the practice are Restylane Dermal Fillers, which can plump and enhance tired and sagging skin, and Botox for the treatment of lines and wrinkles.

What is Restylane and how does it work?

Restylane uses naturally occurring hyaluronic acid to add volume to the face and boost your overall appearance. Restylane is injected using a fine needle and can be used to improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles near the eyes.
  • Deep creases at the corner of the mouth.
  • Deep folds running from the nose to the mouth.
  • Thin lips.
  • Sunken cheeks.

Patients throughout Liverpool are experiencing the effective results of Restylane, which means they do not need to undergo invasive plastic surgery. Similar results can be achieved, which can last for up to year before they need to be repeated.

What is Botox and how does it rejuvenate my face?

Botox, like Restylane, is administered using a small needle, addressing numerous areas including around the mouth, in the corner of the eye and across the forehead. Botox effectively stops the muscle that form lines and wrinkles and smoothes and rejuvenates the appearance of the face.

The effects of Botox last several months, after which it is easy to restore the results with another Botox session.

Patients who receive Botox treatment experience their transformation a few days after the procedure, with a face that is rejuvenated and enhanced.

If you would like any more information on the practice’s facial aesthetic treatments please call today, we will be more than happy to answer any questions.
